Bombora is our original effort – an all-in-one, essential surf and ocean data app – born from a compulsive need to check the buoys for anything that might be construed as surf.

Our philosophy is to provide the tools and allow the user to interact with the data as much as possible – we don’t want to be responsible for telling people “where” to surf, or spoil it for everyone by over-hyping some conditions – we want folks to figure it out for themselves. For that reason, Bombora’s packed with buoy, tide, and marine forecast data, exactly the things that we personally check to see if a swell is arriving, and to check when it has arrived and how good it is.

Enough people clamored for a buoys-only version of the app that we spliced out the buoys section of Bombora and re-sold it as “Buoys,” a separate $0.99 app.

Bombora continues to be our primary focus, with the neat stuff we improve filtering back down to Buoys.
