We develop our apps to be sophisticated tools for the ocean power-user… If you don’t know what a buoy is, or what swell direction means, then maybe Bombora and Buoys aren’t the tools for you. We provide a guide to help those looking to learn more, but our philosophy is to put the important oceanic data in the hands of knowledgeable people who know how to use it.
Experienced surfers know that swell size, period, and direction, all come into play for quality of the surf – along with the wind conditions and what the tide is doing. We put all this information into Bombora and focus on keeping you as up-to-date as possible. Our servers are constantly fetching data from NOAA and optimizing it for fast and accurate delivery.
We provide both the tide predictions offered by NOAA as well as a reading of the *actual* tide at the latest recorded time. We think that’s pretty cool.
Future version of the app will do a better job of consolidating this information into a single display, for even quicker reference! If five or six taps is too much… stay tuned!
